It’s Mr. Merlot

Merlot, a beautiful sport pony standing at 14.1 hh is a super young prospect with a promising future. He is by the stallion Friar Sion (pictured below), a section A welsh pony who was shown extensively in international competitions.
He brought home champion titles at major shows including Royal of England, Glanusk, and the International show in Switzerland. On the dam side, Dandy Danielle is a thoroughbred mare who was successfully evented.
Merlot has excellent conformation with good uphill balance and three quality gaits. As a 2 year old, Merlot was campaigned on the east coast in hand earning the title of 2007 WPSCA National Champion 1/2 Welsh in the 2 and under category. His adorable white face and flashy socks make him hard to miss in the show ring!
He is a sensitive but trainable pony which makes him a joy to work with. He learns quickly and is far exceeding our expectations so far this season.

Merlot made his dressage debut in 2008 at the Fair Hill Sport Horse Breed Show. After a second place finish with a score of 72.1% in the 3 year old colts and geldings class he was the winner of the Sportpony Star Search Challenge for dressage type ponies under saddle. He came home with 5th and 6th place ribbons against tough competition at Dressage at Devon in September of 2008. He has started off the 2009 season with style winning his training level tests at Dressage Winter Fest with scores in the 70%’s and earning the training level champion prize. He is schooling all first level work and also learning how to jump.

Merlot is a talented athlete in a small package ready to take a serious adult or talented young rider to the top. He is fairly priced at $35,000, to increase with further training and show results.
